Guest Bedroom Furniture

In the spring Susie painted our guest bedroom which really brightened it up. After that, we realized we needed a little better furniture for it. All the projects are made out of quarter-sawn white oak and have the following finish schedule:

  • water-based dye
  • 1.5# blonde shellac as a sealcoat sanded with 400
  • oil-based stain as a glaze
  • waterlox original sealer/finish topcoats
  • 50/50 mixture of waterlox sealer/finish and satin as the final coat
Here is the headboard for the bed. The panels are QSWO plywood.
Here it is in the bedroom. The lighting isn't the best in the room so I needed to use a flash.
This quilt shelf holds one of my Grandma's lap quilts.
This nightstand was a lot of fun to build. The carcass is made out of QSWO plywood.
It was my first time making drawers using half-blind dovetails and my Leigh jig did me good!
I like the figure of the top.
